Compared to traditional high-intensity discharge light sources like metal halide and high-pressure sodium, both plasma and LED lighting represent big advances. Both produce high-quality white light, the color rendering is superior, and the products last longer, into the tens of thousands of hours. Both have minimal lumen degradation throughout the lifetime of the light source. They are reliable, work with control system integration, and are compact and directional.
The two lighting technologies, however, do not offer all of the same benefits. SITE NO LONGER AVAILABLE — Read my thoughts on LED vs. Plasma in my blog post on All LED Lighting. Which technology has a brighter future?
