Leitrim Secures €900,000 in Funding from Community Climate Action Initiative

Community groups in Leitrim have secured substantial funding for various environmental initiatives through the first phase of the Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP). Leitrim County Council, alongside the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, has announced that 12 local groups will receive a total of €299,964.83 while an additional €618,403.67 will support 8 community groups and partner organizations in Northern Ireland. The allocated funds will support projects such as solar panel installations, LED lighting, and sustainable infrastructure developments. Minister Eamon Ryan expressed enthusiasm for the funding, emphasizing its potential to enable communities to effectively address climate changes. Cllr. Paddy O’Rourke commented on the timely nature of this support, highlighting its importance for fostering collaboration toward sustainable community development.
