The Bitterroot Trail in Missoula is set to receive a major safety upgrade through a lighting project that began earlier this month and is expected to be completed by late August. Funded by the Missoula Redevelopment Agency at a cost of $1.6 million, the project will install new LED lights along the trail, which stretches from the Milwaukee Trail connection to the pedestrian bridge over Reserve Street. This initiative aims to enhance safety for trail users, including commuters, joggers, families, and cyclists. While the work is ongoing, some minor delays may occur on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but full trail closures are not anticipated. The project emphasizes the significance of urban renewal funding, as traditional city funds are unavailable for large capital improvements.
