U.S. Senators Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar announced the funding of nearly 130 new clean energy projects across rural Minnesota, with a total investment of $15.6 million. This initiative, aimed at helping agricultural producers and rural small businesses, is expected to save them approximately $18.4 million annually on energy bills while lowering carbon emissions. The funding will support the installation of renewable energy systems such as solar panels, energy-efficient grain dryers, LED lighting, and geothermal heating systems. This year, over 380 clean energy projects have already been implemented in the state, bolstered by the Renewable Energy for America Program (REAP) which was enhanced by Senator Smith as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Specific projects include notable investments in cities like Fulda, Hills, Luverne, and Pipestone, each yielding significant energy savings and cost reductions for the businesses involved.
