Long-Established Family Business Gilman Brothers Company Innovates by Collaborating with Budderfly to Achieve 50% Reduction in Electricity Use Through Solar and Energy Efficiency Solutions

Budderfly, a prominent energy-as-a-service provider, has partnered with The Gilman Brothers Company, a family-owned foamboard manufacturer, to launch a $1.5 million solar project aimed at significantly reducing operational costs and carbon emissions. The initiative, which includes the installation of a 750-kilowatt rooftop solar system and energy-efficient upgrades, is projected to decrease Gilman Brothers’ annual energy costs by up to 30% while halving their carbon emissions, equating to the removal of approximately 2,100 gasoline-powered cars from the road. Both companies highlight the project’s potential to not only enhance Gilman Brothers’ production efficiency but also support Connecticut’s goal of achieving 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040. Governor Ned Lamont commended the collaboration for its anticipated economic and environmental benefits.
