The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is set to enhance the lighting at the Mahakumbh fairgrounds with an innovative initiative involving over 40,000 rechargeable bulbs, ensuring continuous illumination even during power outages. This project, which includes standard LED bulbs along with the rechargeable ones, aims to preserve the sacred atmosphere surrounding the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Anoop Kumar Sinha, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, confirmed that these rechargeable bulbs will function using built-in batteries, providing consistent lighting and eliminating dark spots at the event. The initiative will cost approximately Rs 2.7 crores, sourced from ongoing electricity projects for the Mahakumbh. Additionally, to further guarantee illumination, 67,000 regular lights and 2,000 solar hybrid lights with battery backups will be installed outside the camps. The Mahakumbh festival will take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025.
