Marine Drive in Mumbai Set to Shine with 110 New LED Lights as Part of ₹17 Lakh Initiative by BMC

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to enhance the illumination along Mumbai’s Marine Drive by installing 110 new LED light fixtures to improve visibility and safety for the heavy foot traffic the iconic promenade experiences daily. This initiative, motivated by the inadequacy of existing streetlights, particularly during crowded events like cricket matches at Wankhede stadium, will see new lights installed under 55 trees along a nearly three-kilometer stretch, at an estimated cost of Rs 17 lakh. Meanwhile, the BMC is also advancing the Mumbai Coastal Road Project, which includes a new 7.5-kilometer promenade featuring tree-lined pathways and a cycling track, expected to be completed by March.
