New Athletic Facility Unveiled in Irondale

Irondale has officially opened its new Ruffner sports Complex, celebrated with a local celebrity softball game and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor James Stewart, Jr. The multi-million dollar facility, located on Ruffner Road, boasts three turf fields, LED lighting, two playgrounds, picnic pavilions, shaded seating, and concession stands. It aims to enhance community engagement and provide a safe space for youth sports, with over 70 children already registered for its spring programs, including baseball, softball, and t-ball for ages 4 to 12. The complex, which has been in development since April of last year, is viewed by residents as a positive step forward for the city’s future.
