The New Hope-Lambertville Bridge, a historic structure that has stood for 120 years, celebrated the installation of new LED lights, which were lit for the first time on Tuesday night, marking the completion of a major renovation. After being closed to New Jersey-bound traffic since January 2024 due to significant structural issues, the bridge officially reopened in January 2025. The energy-efficient LED lights, which consume 85% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, can be illuminated for holidays and special events, with plans to attract visitors to the surrounding Delaware River towns. These lights enhance the bridge, joining it with other spans in the area that are similarly adorned, and are expected to have a lifespan of ten years.
