New Master Plan Revealed for Depot Road Sports Complex

The Tweed Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the Depot Road sports Precinct Master Plan, which aims to develop an 8-hectare site in Kings Forest into a premier sporting hub. The 10-year vision includes two AFL-standard ovals, multifunctional fields for touch football and Oztag, hard courts for netball and pickleball, and a clubhouse. A youth precinct with recreational amenities and an active travel network also features in the proposal. With an influx of residents anticipated in the Kingscliff area, Mayor Chris Cherry emphasizes the need for enhanced sports infrastructure to meet rising demand. The project has received $6.23 million in funding, with initial construction set to begin in 2026, pending approvals. The draft master plan will be publicly exhibited from April 2 to May 7, 2025, inviting residents to provide their input.
