North American LED Lighting Firms Implement Price Increases Due to New Tariffs

In response to the recent tariff policy announced by the U.S. government, North American lighting manufacturers Acuity Brands and RAB Lighting have implemented price increases on their products. Acuity Brands is adjusting prices on selected lighting fixtures and electronic products starting April 7, 2025, following an earlier price hike on March 31. CEO Neil Ashe noted that many companies, including Acuity, have shifted some production to countries like Vietnam and Cambodia to mitigate tariff risks. Acuity’s financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025 show an 11.1% increase in net sales year-over-year, indicating stable performance despite the tariff impact. Meanwhile, RAB Lighting is set to raise prices starting May 3, 2025, due to increased supply chain costs attributable to the new tariffs. The ongoing tariffs could create uncertainty and risks for the growth of the U.S. lighting industry, given the reliance on Chinese components.
