At the recent business & Climate Summit in London, Harry Verhaar, Head of Global Public & Government Affairs at Philips Lighting, emphasized the necessity for businesses to adopt net-zero carbon strategies as a fundamental component of addressing climate change. Highlighting the circular economy concept, Verhaar discussed how proactive planning can eliminate carbon emissions by incentivizing innovation and financing solutions, particularly through advancements in energy-efficient technologies like LED lighting. Philips has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2020 and is a key player in initiatives such as The Climate Group’s RE100 campaign and the Global Lighting Challenge, where it has pledged to supply billions of LED products worldwide.
