The relocation of the heritage-listed 1915 Hobart Goods Shed to accommodate Hobart’s proposed Macquarie Point stadium is projected to cost over $6 million, according to recent estimates from the Macquarie Point Development Corporation (MPDC). With the new multi-purpose stadium valued at approximately $775 million, the shed will be moved to the north-west gate area of the waterfront precinct. This relocation cost, estimated at $6.5 million, was one of several figures requested by the Tasmanian Planning Commission (TPC) as it assesses the project, deemed a Project of State Significance. The recent clarification requests by the TPC are part of the normal process for evaluating large-scale developments. The overall budget for the stadium includes detailed costings for its construction components, adding up to a total of approximately $774.9 million.
