A recent study explored innovative cultivation techniques to meet the growing demand for high-quality edible flowers, specifically focusing on horned pansy (Viola cornuta L.). Researchers examined the impact of varying supplemental LED light treatments and Non-Thermal Plasma (NTP) air treatments on growth, production, and post-harvest quality. Findings revealed that plants exposed to high-intensity LED light produced 65% more flowers and 64% greater yield compared to controls, while high-NTP treatment increased flower fresh weight by 15.6%. Additionally, those under high-NTP exhibited superior visual quality scores, despite stable total antioxidant levels across treatments. The study underscores the potential of integrating LED lighting and NTP treatments to enhance the cultivation of edible flowers, offering valuable insights for the floriculture industry.
