Residents of March, Cambridgeshire, have voiced concerns over the dimness of newly installed LED street lights, claiming they hinder visibility, particularly for cyclists. Vanessa Richardson, a local cyclist, noted that the lights make it difficult to see potholes, while other residents likened the illumination to that of a dying flashlight. The Cambridgeshire County Council is in the process of upgrading all street lights to LEDs over the next 18 months, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption by more than half by 2030. Despite the intended benefits, many locals, including Zoe Mason and Linda Thrower, express dissatisfaction with the new lighting, feeling it compromises safety and comfort in their community. The council has committed to testing and reviewing the impact of the new bulbs in response to feedback from residents.
