At the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25) on March 3, Samsung Display will unveil its groundbreaking OLED technology featuring a remarkable maximum brightness of 5,000 nits. Developed using polarizer-less display technology, known as on-cell film (OCF), this new innovation significantly enhances outdoor visibility while optimizing power consumption, offering design flexibility for various devices, including bar-type smartphones and rollable laptops. The OCF OLED panels are thinner and more energy-efficient, achieving over 3,000 nits of brightness in standard conditions and up to 1.5 times the brightness of current premium smartphone displays without extra power use. Joohyung Lee, Head of Mobile Display business at Samsung Display, emphasized that OCF aligns with the industry’s need for low power consumption, eco-friendliness, and improved design, and is part of Samsung’s commitment to leading in display technology amidst the rising demand for efficient, high-performance solutions in the AI era. Attendees at MWC25 will be able to experience this cutting-edge technology firsthand.
