The Shepparton Cycling Club’s velodrome has received a significant lighting upgrade, now boasting new 300 lux LED lights that comply with AusCycling standards, thanks to funding from the Victorian Government’s Regional sports Infrastructure Program. Announced by the Greater Shepparton City Council, the enhancement aims to attract more cyclists and host larger events, potentially including national competitions for both track and BMX racing. Mayor Shane Sali highlighted the upgrades’ role in promoting growth within the local cycling community, while the club’s president, Brett Lancaster, expressed gratitude for the improvements that ensure safer conditions for riders and reduce the need for additional lighting during events. The revamped lighting is expected to enhance safety and quality for participants, spectators, and broadcasters alike.
