Denbighshire County Council’s energy team has undertaken significant energy efficiency measures at Ysgol Bodfari, including the installation of a 7.47KW solar panel system, LED lighting, and a new boiler. These enhancements are expected to save approximately 18,079 kWh of energy annually, leading to a reduction of over four and a half tonnes of carbon emissions and annual energy cost savings exceeding £2,961. The council anticipates that the reduced energy costs will quickly offset the investment made in these improvements. Martyn Smith, the property energy and carbon manager, emphasized the project’s goal of enhancing the school environment for students and staff while lowering long-term energy expenses. This initiative is part of a broader assessment by the council’s energy team to implement energy efficiency upgrades across various council-owned buildings. Councillor Barry Mellor expressed gratitude to the energy team and the school community for their cooperation during the project’s execution.
