Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke emphasized the upgrade’s importance in solidifying the city’s status as a hub for elite softball, attracting both local leagues and international tournaments. The facility has a history of hosting prestigious events, including the Canada Cup International Softball Championship and various world championship qualifiers. Additionally, the new fixtures minimize light pollution and improve safety in pedestrian areas, marking a pivotal advancement for athletes and a commitment to supporting women’s sports in the community.
