Students from the University of Oklahoma’s Gallogly College of Engineering have successfully revamped the Chickasha Festival of Lights Christmas tree by replacing its outdated control system with a modern smart RGB LED setup. Led by Dr. Reza Kandezy, the team plans to launch a second phase next spring, introducing a dynamic control system that will allow the tree to function like an LED screen, playing videos and animations in sync with music. Additionally, a proposed third phase aims to incorporate AI technology, enabling the tree to respond to nearby visitors and enhance their festival experience. Kandezy emphasized the importance of practical learning for engineering students and expressed pride in their contributions to the community, hoping to foster more such initiatives in the future.
