The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has partnered with OLEDWorks LLC to develop an innovative white and amber OLED lighting prototype aimed at enhancing patient care in hospitals. This initiative, supported by a $100,645 grant from NYSERDA, aligns with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Reforming the Energy Vision strategy, which seeks to promote energy efficiency and innovation in New York. The new OLED lights, which are energy-efficient and produce minimal heat, will be tested at Highland Hospital by a team of medical professionals to ensure they do not disrupt patients’ sleep patterns, a critical factor in healing. The project further contributes to the state’s goal of reducing energy consumption in buildings by 23%. With previous funding totaling $1.68 million from NYSERDA and additional support from the Department of Energy, OLEDWorks aims to drive forward the development of affordable OLED lighting solutions, illustrating a significant investment in clean technology and the broader economic growth strategy for the Finger Lakes region.
