Despite forward Zach Werenski’s two goals, bringing his season total to 20, the Jackets struggled against a Lightning offense that featured standout performances from Victor Hedman and Jake Guentzel, each scoring two goals and assisting on others. Tampa Bay dominated early, scoring twice within the first two minutes and adding four more goals throughout the game. The Blue Jackets now maintain their hold on the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, with 68 points, but face an even tougher challenge ahead against the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Thursday.
