Timing Dilemma: Survey Reveals Mixed Opinions on When to Display Christmas Lights

A recent survey by BC Hydro reveals that holiday inflatables are increasingly popular among British Columbians, with nearly two-thirds of respondents planning to use them this season. However, opinions on the timing of holiday decorating are mixed; while 15% find early displays annoying, almost a third feel joy when lights are lit regardless of the timing. Almost half believe decorations should not appear until after Remembrance Day, with December 1 being the favored date for turning on festive lights. The survey also highlighted the need for energy efficiency, as many still use older incandescent lights, which consume more power. BC Hydro suggests transitioning to LED lights, using timers, and tracking electricity usage to help manage costs during the holiday season.
