Tuskegee University will celebrate a significant milestone tonight with the debut of new LED lighting at Abbott stadium, launching the university’s 100th homecoming weekend. The event will feature a synchronized light show set to music, marking the first time the stadium lights will be publicly illuminated. Athletic Director Reginald Ruffin highlighted the benefits of the lighting, which will enhance training for student athletes and allow the university to host playoff games. Alabama Power, which installed the lights and provided campus infrastructure upgrades, expressed its commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through various initiatives. The festivities commence with a brief program at 6 p.m., and the homecoming football game against Miles College will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, potentially marking the first game completed under the new lights.
