Tweed Shire Council is seeking community input on its plans for a new sports and recreation hub at Kings Forest, following the release of the Depot Road Sports Precinct Master Plan. This ambitious eight-hectare development is designed to meet the increasing demand for sports facilities, including two AFL-standard ovals, multi-use fields for touch football and Oztag, and hard courts for netball and pickleball. With sports participation having surged by 63% since 2019, the project aims to enhance local opportunities for physical activity and will feature a clubhouse, a youth precinct, and a network for active travel. Funded by $6.23 million from the NSW Government and Tweed Shire Council, the first phase of construction is slated to start in 2026, with community feedback welcomed from April 2 to May 7 via the council’s website.
