UC Davis Athletics has made a historic upgrade to Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins stadium, installing advanced lighting for the first time since its opening in 1986. The project features eight 80-foot light poles at the baseball field and four 100-foot poles at the soccer field, enabling NCAA-level competition lighting. This enhancement improves practice conditions for student-athletes and allows for scheduling flexibility outside of academic commitments. Additionally, a new videoboard has been introduced to enrich the game-day experience for fans. With these upgrades, UC Davis baseball can now host night games for the first time, likely boosting attendance and community engagement as the program transitions to the Mountain West Conference in 2026-27. Overall, the improvements reflect a commitment to elevating the student-athlete experience and fostering future success for the baseball program.
