football Victoria has announced the successful completion of a significant lighting upgrade at Waratah Reserve in Eumemmerring, marking a major milestone for the local football community and Doveton SC. The venue hosted its first game under lights in five years on April 12, coinciding with the venue’s 58th anniversary. The upgrade was celebrated at an event attended by prominent officials, including City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and MP Gabrielle Williams. The new installation features four poles equipped with advanced LED lights, delivering 259,000 lumens, a substantial improvement over the previous lighting system. These enhancements not only provide better visibility and safety for players and fans but also demonstrate the positive impact of investment in local sports infrastructure. Funded through a collaborative effort between the City of Casey and the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, this upgrade is poised to invigorate grassroots football in the region.
