Weirton officially welcomed the holiday season with a festive tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday night, led by Mayor Harold “Bubba” Miller at the intersection of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Surrounded by family and local officials, Miller celebrated the significance of the North End’s history, recalling the tradition of a community-donated tree that had been absent for years. This year, thanks to funding from the City Council, artificial trees were purchased, with one installed in the North End and another in front of the Millsop Community Center. The event set the stage for the upcoming Christmas on Main Street festivities on November 23, which will feature a tree lighting and fireworks display, highlighting the support from local sponsors including Cleveland-Cliffs and Weirton Medical Center.
