The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) has kicked off in Wellington, Florida, this year under new leadership, with CEO Murray Kessler aiming to elevate it to the premier equestrian event in the United States. Enhancements, including upgraded stadium lighting and an increase in prize money from $500,000 to $750,000 for the Rolex Finale, are expected to attract top riders globally. A significant addition for 2025 is the U.S. Equestrian Open, aimed at enhancing the profile of equestrian sports ahead of the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. Notable riders like Lillie Keenan, who has been competing in Wellington for two decades, express excitement about the event’s offerings and their goals for future championships. The festival runs until March 30, providing opportunities for both seasoned competitors and aspiring young riders.
