Ounces Taproom & Beer Garden owner Laurel Trujillo, facing the demolition of her pub for the new Delridge station, anticipates costs of up to $750,000 for relocating and renovating a new space but will only receive a $50,000 reestablishment stipend, unchanged for two decades. The Sound Transit project is projected to displace 63 businesses across Delridge, Avalon, and Alaska Junction stations, impacting 610 employees. As costs for the light rail project soar to $7 billion, there are discussions among local leaders seeking to revise compensation standards and provide better assistance for businesses affected by the transit expansion. With many businesses expressing feelings of uncertainty, local politicians may need to innovate funding solutions similar to past initiatives that supported displaced vendors during previous transit developments.
