Wolfspeed Appoints New CEO to Drive Turnaround Efforts at North Carolina Semiconductor Company

Wolfspeed, the Durham-based semiconductor company, has appointed Robert Feurle as its new CEO, effective May 1. Feurle, who is relocating from Germany, brings extensive experience from his previous roles at European semiconductor firms including ams-OSRAM AG and Infineon. He takes the reins during a challenging period for Wolfspeed, which has seen its stock plummet from over $100 to less than $6 in recent years, alongside significant layoffs following the departure of former CEO Gregg Lowe. Feurle’s priorities will include launching a new materials plant in North Carolina and increasing production at the company’s New York facility, while also navigating geopolitical trade issues that may impact operations, particularly in the electric vehicle sector.
