Woodstock kicked off its holiday season on Friday with the annual Lighting of the Square, featuring festive activities such as Santa’s arrival, photo opportunities, and performances by Dickens Carolers, alongside the beloved Woodstock Willie. This celebratory event marks the beginning of a series of winter festivities, including a Christmas parade scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. and a Cookies and Churros event with Santa. Other holiday highlights include a gingerbread house walk at the Old Courthouse until December 22 and horse-drawn carriage rides throughout December. The holiday festivities will continue in Woodstock through Groundhog Day in early February, with the iconic Woodstock Willie serving as the harbinger of spring. Nearby, Crystal Lake also celebrated the season with its Festival of Lights Parade.
